What is Breast Augmentation?

You are a good candidate for breast augmentation if you feel that:

• Both of your breasts are different in size

However, these conditions must be met:

• Above 18 years old
• No autoimmune disease such as lupus
• No history of chest radiation therapy
• Not pregnant or nursing
• Not suffering from breast cancer (malignant)

How long is the procedure?

2-3 hours

After the procedure:

• Avoid any form of lifting for several weeks after surgery.
• Avoid any physical contact (direct stimulation) for a few weeks as the breasts are still sore.
• The doctor will recommend you to wear a support bra for 2-3 weeks

Are there any side effects?

All kinds of surgeries involve some extent of risk. They include:

• Infection
• Problems with the implant (they may leak)
• Non-symmetrical breast
• A not so desired breast shape or size
• Pain, swelling, bruising, bleeding
• Changes in nipple sensitivity (usually temporary)
• Capsular contracture or hardening of the breasts

How soon can I expect to see the effects?

The results are immediate, although the swelling may take 3 to 5 weeks to disappear.
